Purpose
Develop and monitor the merchandise plans for sales, inventory, markdowns, and profit in line with companys financial objectives

Responsibilities
Develop, in association with buyers, seasonal macro and micro merchandise and range plans by analyzing past performance and identifying future sales opportunities
Based on the merchandise plan, develop, in association with the buyers, seasonal store level sales and stock plans by analyzing past performance, identifying sales opportunities, and conducting inventory turn analysis
In the light of the agreed financial budgets for the Trading department develop macro and micro space plans across and within stores taking into account historical performance and future trends
Regularly review overall business at department, category and store levels, identifying variances between actual and planned performance
Generate and analyze statistical data, analyzing and revising the merchandise plans in support of the business initiatives and in-season performance
Working with trading Head, review and update the open-to-buy on a monthly basis
Plan exit strategies for seasonal buys and communicate plan to buyers
Develop sales and stock plans for new stores
Working with Business Development department and Retail Operations, align new stores with sales objectives, store layout, and fixture plans,
Build weekly sales reports to identify the following
o Sales vs budget and equivalent week last year down to category level
o Best and slow selling items
o Sales to inventory relationship

Monitor new store performance to react quickly to up-trending business, examining new store inventory levels
Plan and monitor sales per sq meter by category, department, store, region and company Where identifiable variances occur recommend initiatives to bring measure back on plan
Create and monitor store allocations for each new collection based on store range and assortment plans as well as current business trends
Continually review size and colour ratios to ensure that the buyers are purchasing new product in the right ratios

Relationships
Trading head
o Regular meetings to discuss progress and any issues regarding merchandise and store plans
o Weekly meetings to discuss actual performance vs budget
o Formal personnel performance reviews every 6 months

Buyers
o Weekly meetings prior to the beginning of the season to finalize financial
and merchandise plans
o Regular weekly meetings to discuss weekly sales and stock performance with comparisons against budget
o Meeting every 3 months to discuss whether current plans needs to be
updated in line with projected sales performance

Distribution Merchandisers
o Weekly meetings to discuss store sales and stock performance vs budget

Retail Operations Director
o Weekly meetings prior to the beginning of the season to finalize financial and store plans
o Regular weekly meetings to discuss weekly store sales and stock performance with comparisons against budget
