An electrical foreman works with sub&contractors and other electricians to inspect, install, troubleshoot, testing, commissioning, start&up and maintain wiring, electrical systems and equipments in a construction site The electrical foreman trains and supervises a crew of electricians and apprentices He must be able to read and evaluate blueprints, technical drawings and project’s specifications in order to communicate specific orders to his crew and explain them to other electricians and apprentices An electrical foreman completes supervisory duties at a construction site A middle management position, it is the foremans responsibility to follow his managers direction and communicate the organizations overall strategy and goals while providing direction to his own subordinates Additionally, he might handle many of the construction tasks himself, requiring him to work alongside his subordinates in a collaborative mannerThe electrical foreman organizes, plans and schedules the work of his subordinates He assigns specific duties having to do with construction, maintenance, repair and installation of electrical systems and fixtures, and he ensures that materials, tools and equipment are available for work completion He also oversees his workers as they complete assigned tasks He provides instruction as required and enforces safety regulations The foreman inspects projects to ensure that the finished installation meets applicable codes, regulations and project specificationsA foreman completes estimation work and delivers it to his superiors He concludes the amount of time needed to complete a task or project and estimates the costs for labor and supplies Additionally, he maintains thorough costing and job records and submits reports As needed, he assists procuring supplies, materials and tools Handling project proposal work might also be the responsibility of the foremanAn electrical foreman might work in an office, a workshop or in the field at a construction site Travel may be required if the foreman is responsible for more than one construction project at a time

An electrical foreman should have a master electrician degree or an associate in electrical engineering and a minimum of 5 years experience in a supervisory role. Additional, substantial experience as an electrician is necessary. A foreman must possess strong leadership qualities, such as assertiveness, ambition and independence. He must be comfortable delegating work, dealing with problems and conflicts, providing encouragement and praise and managing a demanding workload. He should also have an excellent communication skills.
