Job Description

Main Duties: To oversee the delivery of all raw materials and dispatch of finished products to ensure that the company meets all production and customer orders by the agreed dates through effective coordination with production, warehousing, procurement and sales and marketing as well as shipping and freight agencies. Major Responsibilities/Duties: Recommend and implement policies and procedures for Logistics processes and ensure they are consistent with business objectives and industry best practices. Provide input to the departments budget to ensure all logistics programs and activities are appropriately planned and resources allocated for execution and help monitor the budget. Develop systems to ensure efficient logistics operations, monitor performance, and ensure appropriate and prompt reporting of any faulty logistics for corrective action. Study and recommend innovative logistics operations to improve and/or comply with international standards and mitigate against possible logistics risks. Oversee all materials and equipment into the company and ensure that these are unloaded and stored efficiently and safely. Oversee the dispatch operation to ensure that it operates efficiently, effectively and safely and meets customer requirements. Negotiate ocean and air freight and trucking charges with shipping, airline and trucking companies, and advise on most competitive shipping arrangements to be contracted. Ensure effective liaison with agents and coordinated arrangement of shipment of requested items, goods or merchandise. Approve bookings for container and freight pick up, and ensure coordination for shipments. Review and sign off shipping documents while ensuring completeness and accuracy. Seek innovative ways to improve service and cost, which will include both technological and process improvements. Ensure appropriate coordination between land, marine, and air operations crews in different locations and provide appropriate support to facilitate operations. Ensure compliance with import/export regulations for all equipment and materials. Review and approve the documents, processes and controls of freight payment and audit system and ensure all documents, processes and controls are updated. Supervise staff to ensure that they carry out their responsibilities to the required standards and receive all required training. Work Experience:
8 + years of experience in logistics and/or supply chain operations, 3 of which must have been in supervisory level. Education:
Bachelor's degree in Business Administration or related field. Additional professional qualifications in Supply Chain or MBA in Operations will be necessary. Training:
Training courses in supply chain, operations, negotiation and shipping and export laws.
