Job Descrption: Qatar Fertiliser Company (QAFCO) is one of Qatars leading Petrochemical businesses and the worlds largest single site producer of Urea and Ammonia. QAFCO is a joint venture between Industries Qatar and Yara - the world leading Petrochemical/Fertiliser business. Situated about 40 Kms outside of Doha in Mesaieed, Qatars industrial heartland, QAFCO is looking for an experienced and high calibre candidate to join its Legal Department as Compliance Officer (CO). The role holder reports directly to the General Counsel. The CO will be responsible for the process that enables the company to demonstrate its commitment to compliance with governing laws, legislative requirements, industry codes and company governing documents (i.e. including governance related standards).  QAFCO is in the process of redeveloping and centralising its Corporate Compliance Programme (CCP) and this role provides an exciting opportunity to influence the companys strategy for managing compliance risks KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES: Design, establish and maintain, a revised CCP, review and evaluate compliance issues/concerns within the company to prevent illegal, unethical or improper conduct. The role will ensure that the Board of Directors, management and employees are aware of and can be in compliance with applicable laws, rules and regulations and that corporate behaviour aligns with company standards. Systematically identify the new and changed relevant local and international laws, regulations and standards that affect QAFCOs business processes. Interpret compliance related laws, rules and regulations into compliance obligations for the company and its processes, activities, products and services.Identify, analyze and evaluate regulatory compliance risks and report on regulatory compliance obligationsGather information regarding regulatory requestsWork with Human Resources to develop an effective compliance education and training programme and devise regular effective communication of the Corporate Compliance ProgramCollaborate with internal audit to identify areas for the audit team to review on behalf of the Compliance OfficerCollaborates with other departments (e.g., Risk Management, Internal Audit, Human Resources, etc.) to direct regulatory compliance issues to appropriate existing channels for investigation and resolution.Follow up to ensure that compliance issues/concerns within the organization are being appropriately evaluated, discussed and resolved.Provide reports on a regular basis, and as directed or requested, to keep the General Counsel, Management and Board of Directors informed of the operation and progress of compliance efforts.Monitor the performance of the Compliance Program and related activities on a continuing basis, taking appropriate steps to improve its effectiveness.Comply with all relevant procedures of QAFCO Integrated Management System comprising of Occupational Health & Safety, Quality, Environment, Responsible Care, IFA Product Stewardship & Energy Management System.   MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & SKILLS: Bachelors Degree in Law (LLB) from a recognized University.Up to 10 years experience with multinational organization/law firm preferably in the petrochemical/oil & gas industry.Specialization in Corporate & Industrial Laws.Excellent drafting skills in plain EnglishExperience in setting up and managing data bases preferredStrong interpersonal and negotiating skillsConfidence in evaluating, prioritising and handling multiple tasks
