Job Description

The role represents the integration of: Product knowledge - A strong knowledge of how to use the product to get the best out of it, knowing the tips and tricks that allow the product to be successfully deployed. Process knowledge - a level of expertise across our process industries: Oil & Gas, Refinery, Petrochemical, Polymer or Power. Understanding what is important in a particular industry and why and how this relates to the customer requirements. Technical understanding of Asset Management and Mobile Solutions - Writing specifications, design approach and documents, understanding unit operations, field operator work, maintenance and reliability processes and best practices in process operations and maintenance of instruments, valves as well as process equipment including rotating equipment. Testing of models and confirming realistic behaviour, operation of Control systems (DCS), CMMS systems and Mobile hand-held systems such as IntelaTrac. Project Execution Skills - understand scope, estimate hours for activities, identify current progress and remaining work, input to schedules, assess quality and provide guidance, write procedures for and conduct formal testing, identify technical variations, organise training courses and project documentation. The lead engineer is technically responsible for the deliverable, leading the engineering team (guiding design and validating the solution); this involves coordinating and planning the activities of the engineering team with the project manager and then defining and producing the work packages for engineers. The lead engineer reports progress to the project manager on the work packages based on validation of delivered models and checking of engineering content. The lead engineer is an interface with the client, championing the technical solution and leading the client through the technical scope of the project, including leading of witness testing. The lead engineer is expected to have a strong understanding of the process, products used and is able to seek assistance and resolve technical problems. The lead engineer is part of the operations group and reports to the Service Manager, he will be assigned to specific projects where he reports to the Project Manager. Lead engineers are expected to support the development of junior engineers and contribute to the engineering group as a whole through provision of standards and templates for project execution.
