LinuxUNIX Application SupportProduction Support is responsible for application support of many applications on numerous servers, predominantly in a UNIX clientserver environment (Solaris and Red Hat Enterprise Linux) Even though we look for a system administrator skill set, it is not just a sysadmin position Team members will be working in UNIX command line on a daily basis They should know how to troubleshoot server performance, network, Middleware, and application issues We use hundreds of shell scripts for automation and monitoring, therefore, having basic shell scripting skills is necessary, but advanced scripting skills preferredGeneral tasks and daily responsibilities include& Handling IR�s& Handling Work Requests, email requests& ConferenceBridge Calls& Answering pages from serverssystems& Monitoring via various methods& Automation (updating existing shell scripts, new shell scripts)& Filling out and submitting Verizon&specific forms and other app support related admin duties (Change Activities, Task plans, etc)Qualifications & Strong inter&personal and communication skills; capable of writing proposals or papers, acting as a vendor liaison, making presentations to customer or client audiences or professional peers, and working closely with upper management& Ability to solve problems quickly and completely& Ability to identify tasks which require automation and automate them& Ability to work in a 24x7 environment with shift and on&call responsibilities& package code and middleware using rpm or system 5 packaging when needed
