Job Summary -
?To organize and directly supervise Rigging activities of Rudder and Propeller personnel on board vessels and workshop to ensure cost effective Rigging are in accordance with the specification and to acceptable working practices.
?Safe efficient securing and movement of the heavy or delicate loads using portable or mobile equipment. Working in workshop or onboard ships afloat in order to lift, lower and move materials or equipments.
?To ensure the equipment in use valid and tested before using it.
?To ensure safe working practices are maintained at all times.
?To ensure an acceptable standard of Quality, Environmental, OHSAS and Security Management System is maintained in accordance with recognized working practices and the Company’s QEHS&S Manual and Policy.
?Receive information from Rudder & Propeller Work Preparator and prepare work schedules and labour requirements to meet intended workload.
?Assist Rudder and Propeller Section Head in the preparation of programs.
?Assist Rudder and Propeller Work Preparator with initial identification of work, discuss any possible problems with Owners Representative Ship Repair Coordinator.
?Closely supervise and assist with technical advice to those Rudder and Propeller Riggers allocated to his vessel.
?Notify Ship Repair Project Manager when attendance of Class Surveyor is required, attend Class inspections and assist as required.
?Advise Rudder & Propeller Work Preparator of additional work as it arises.
?Liaise with other trade Supervisors on co-ordination of inter trade involvement and to schedule completion of rigging.
Minimum Qualifications & Experience
?Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
?Minimum of Ten years experience as rigger with at least 5 years as a rigger supervisor in a ship repair or similar facility.
