JOB PURPOSE

The Strategy team is at the center of thinking and planning major initiatives within Careem with an objective to successfully achieve the companys ambitious growth targets Careems vision by 2022 is to become the everyday super app of the region This is a big pivot for Careem from focusing purely on ride-hailing to multiple verticals adjacencies where Careem will need to integrate itself with the several third-party service providers at the same time Its the Strategy teams mandate to layout a clear path for Careems super app vision and make the transition smooth for current business lines as well as for colleagues Senior Director Strategy Super App & Adjacencies is a very important role in Careem to

Shape Careems Super app strategy, go-to-market plan, business monetization models to become the app of the region
Shape regional strategy for Careem by understanding the macro realities of markets and business lines
Create business cases and financial models to launch new business lines supported by data and analytics
Develop short- and long-term strategic plans in line with super app vision while ensuring different business lines have Careems local maxima prioritized
Work on identifying new potential markets segments use-cases and devise the entry strategy for new verticals
Define organizational priorities on a quarterly basis and work with OKRs
Develop market focused strategies to support the operational teams on the ground
Support business teams in planning and analysis of high impact initiatives, eg provide fact- based support to key challenges, structure and help with problem identification and resolution, advise on the realities of implementation and org change topics around it
Working with the companys senior leadership and C-Suite on a daily basis
Develop needful analytical and conceptual frameworks for strategy formulation
Conduct oversee market research, competitive analysis and industry benchmarking needed for strategy articulation and assessment

JOB DIMENSIONS

This role has a significant impact on the overall organizational performance structure as well as future vision of Careem

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES (OUTPUTS, KPIS)

This role will be accountable for the following

Accountability for overall growth and profitability (shared KPI with other functions)
Delivery of an annual corporate strategic plan
Delivery of quarterly priorities
Delivery of key org change initiatives operating model transformations
Delivery of strategic plans for Careems Super App journey

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, SKILLS AND KNOWLEDGE

The ideal candidate will have a passionate commitment to improving the lives of people, an insane focus on excellence and customer service, and a strong alignment with our core values and purpose

Additional qualifications include

Relevant Masters education background, especially MBA, Strategy, Management, Economics, Finance or Computer Science Engineering from a top-tier academic institution
7-10 years of experience in professional environments, especially working with the strategy arm of a leading organization andor a top tier management consulting firm
A passion for and demonstrated experience working with technology companies including internet, super app, and marketplace focused companies
Demonstrated experience building and motivating high performing teams
A track record of leadership, applying problem solving skills to tackle complex challenges, working successfully with senior leaders in organizations and defining strategic directions leading to impact
Comfortable with continuous engagement with C-level and Senior Leadership
Strong analytical and communication skills (both verbal and written) comfortable with PowerPoint and Excel
Strong team-play, comfortable with cross-team collaboration
Prior CX (Customer Experience) and Strategic Planning experience is a big plus
Prior experience in a senior position in a super app company or relevant adjacencies is a must
