Job Description

Position Description The core function of the Kingdoms Energy Strategy Department organization is to advise the companys management and external (ie, government and private) stakeholders on domestic energy outlooks, domestic economic evaluations, domestic fuel and feed stock pricing, macroeconomic outlook, and international energy policies and regulations, besides assisting in strategic planning and domestic energy strategy formulation The Kingdoms Energy Strategy Department serves as the center of expertise on a wide variety of strategic issues that are of great impact in the domestic energy landscape to ensure sustainable economic development Saudi Aramco is seeking a Senior Energy Technology Specialist to contribute to perform analysis of energy technologies that will impact oil and gas demand and supply The technology spectrum will cover areas such as efficiency gains in transportation, efficiency gains in buildings, HVAC and appliances, efficiency gains in industry, alternative fuels and developments in oil and gas production technologies This analysis will make an important contribution to the companys work on the oil and gas outlook As an expert with experience in energy technology, and crude oil refining and marketing, the Specialist will be responsible for evaluating the impact of these technologies on the mid- to long-term domestic energy demand, the economic and technical viability of such technologies; as well as developing and maintaining long-term energy technology programs with identification of enablers, such as R&D, and funding This work will be integrated in a long-term domestic energy strategy The Senior Energy Technology Specialist must also demonstrate the ability to work with multidisciplinary teams to produce reports, studies and presentations that are pivotal in shaping managements decisions Minimum Requirements At least 15 years in the oil and gas industry, including at least 8 years of experience analyzing energy technologies, particularly in the area of transportation, alternative fuels, and oil and gas production, as demonstrated in past work products (analytic reports, quantitative analysis, operative models, published papers, etc) A Masters or PhD degree in relevant disciplines, such as engineering, economics or physical science Excellent knowledge of key energy technologies and processes in industry Knowledge of energy system analysis would be an advantage Broad understanding of the energy sector and of energy technologies for energy supply, transformation and end-use Committed team worker High degree of flexibility Proven ability to handle multi-tasking, priorities and meet tight deadlines Strong sense of responsibility for the successful completion of assigned work Strong communication skills A demonstrated ability to prepare high quality reports quickly and clearly in written form, on complex technical issues for a more general policy audience Experience in giving oral presentations Excellent knowledge of written and spoken English Ability to work effectively with minimum supervision and on relatively unstructured tasks Intellectually curious and keeps abreast of topics that affect the evolving energy markets, alternative energy developments, and other global issues Duties & Responsibilities The Energy Technology Specialist will help the Corporate Advisor through the following Participate in the preparation of medium- and long-term energy outlooks by providing forecasts of technology developments To develop the forecast, the Energy Technology Specialist will be using methods such as economic modeling, scenario development and technology assessment Regularly monitor the development of existing and emerging technologies to forecast their viability and progress over time This will involve analyzing the economic viability, commerciality, challenges, limitations and regulations of the key technologies Work with other experts in the organization such as policy advisor and demand specialist to assess the impact of the potential technologies on oil and gas demand Provide expert judgment, by way of thorough analysis on queries from management involving the impact of technologies on oil and gas demand and supply Participate in developing strategic plans by collaborating with various departments in the company, such as Research and Development, and the Upstream Advanced Research Center Provide periodic commentary on developments of key technologies in the energy sectors that will have impact on the companys plans Maintain a wide network of contacts with members of the industry, other institutions and representatives of regulatory authorities involved in energy technology assessments and promotion Assist in the training, development and mentoring of younger staff Represent Saudi Aramco at conferences and seminars Represent Corporate Planning and the Group at Saudi Aramco events, to increase employee understanding of energy technologies
