Job Description

The Alliances and Business Development Associate Director will focus on establishing innovative external partnerships to 1) bring in exciting new innovations in medicine via in-licensing activities; 2) create new business models via strategic alliances to support AstraZeneca growth

The Alliances & BD Associate Director will work closely with external partners and internal multiple functions to explore inorganic business growth opportunities and help AstraZeneca growth & product portfolio optimization

Lead relevant deal transaction and execution

Build a thorough understanding of the companys portfolio and related disease areas and provide technical & operational leadership to ensure effective mapping and high-quality assessment to new partnership opportunities in MEA

This role will report to MEA Area Commercial Director

Design and execute external partnership to drive business growth

Identify new business opportunities & assess potential partnering targets (in-licensing, out-licensing, collaborations)
Build a thorough understanding of the companys portfolio and related therapeutic areas to screen and identify new partnership opportunities
Portfolio Target Scanning and Identification through a structured framework
Develop forecast and prepare solid business case to get internal approval and external alignment on the partnership & identified target(s)
Negotiate complex contractual frameworks for new strategic partners across all relevant functions
Support internal communication & stakeholder alignment on target(s) identified as well as business case design
Drive the execution of the deal by leading cross-functional collaboration in AZ with key stakeholder functions including Medical, Marketing, Finance, Legal, and market access to ensure clear objective alignment, transparent communication and close teamwork

Key Stakeholders management

Develop and maintains relationships with key internal customers and maintain visibility and accessibility, working in close collaboration with them to realize AstraZenecas long-term objectives
Builds relationships with External partners to gain better understanding in building our ecosystem
Represents AstraZeneca to key players, KEEs and other identified stakeholders

Corporate responsibility

Maintains highest ethical standards and work in a spirit of AstraZeneca Code of Ethics, following rules & norms set by corporate policies
Ensures that all conducted activities are done in accordance with local legislation and corporate standards
Timely reports (as per respective procedures) healthenvironmentwellbeing related accidents; adverse events that you became aware about; change in status of your Conflict of Interest

Essential Skills and Experience

Academic background in science business economics, knowledge of health care system Minimum Bachelors degree
>10 years experience in pharmaceutical or healthcare related industry, with in-depth knowledge of this industry and the role & dynamics of corporate and business development
5 years experiences in designing and negotiating complex business development transactions in pharmabiotech industry, with outstanding and proven negotiation expertise
Innovative thinking, openness to new ideas, comfortability with uncertainties, and ability to think out of box are core competencies for the job
Excellent project management and analytical skills, with experience in an environment requiring significant data analysis and cross-functional interaction
Able to think analytically and strategically, synthesize information quickly and logically
Commitment to teamwork and able to lead across functions and hierarchies
Ability to lead change and transformation
Excellent skills in Microsoft Office, especially PowerPoint and Excel
Fluent in English

Desirable Skills And Experience

Master MBA post-grad qualification are appreciated
Investment bank or management consulting experience in Healthcare or other related industries are strongly preferred
Knowledge on payors, market access and governmental affairs, pricing
Strong finance background
